Genavieve Shingle Law offers contract review, contract drafting, and corporate governance for your business.

Most contracts have a flat rate so there are no surprise-hidden fees (feel free to breathe that sigh of relief). Retainer programs are also available.

If I told you I could show you how to protect your business and personal assets, would you be interested?

As a small business owner, you probably know that there are some things you need to do legally when it comes to setting up and operating your company. You know there are contracts that should be drafted, corporate governance to be instituted… but you have no idea how to proceed and you’re scared out of your mind that it’s going to cost you thousands of dollars to cover your bases.

I totally get it. I’m here to make you feel at ease with your business and secure with your contracts by holding your hand every step of the way. I will translate all of the legalese so that you actually understand what you are sending to clients or signing yourself.

Are you ready? To start you off, I have created an ABC guide explaining the most common contracts that you will need to have in place (don’t worry, I made it super reader friendly!). Please provide me with your name and e-mail address above and click to download the free guide.

I graduated magna cum laude from Pace Law School in 2012 where I was a Presidential Merit Scholarship student. I was the captain of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition that competed in Vienna, Austria, where, individually, I was named Third Best Oralist out of 1,200 competitors. Additionally, I was a member of the St. John’s/FINRA Securities Triathlon Team that won the national title in 2011. I am admitted to the Bar in the State of New York and I collaborate with several other attorneys who have their own law practices. As a result, I am able to help clients with everything from setting up their own business entities to drafting their will and everything and anything in between through these relationships!

After law school, I worked in a mid-size law firm for a year and a half practicing corporate law and commercial litigation. I started my first business during this time and in connecting with other entrepreneurs, I realized that there was a common thread- that so many of these small business owners did not really know what they should be doing legally to protect themselves and could not afford to pay the big law firm prices. Just like you, I am an entrepreneur, so I feel so much better helping people like myself as opposed to multi-million dollar corporations (that being said, when you are mega successful, which you totally will be, I will still have you covered).

I earned my undergraduate degree from Penn State University (We Are!), with Distinction, where I was a full scholarship Varsity Gymnast, Academic All-American, Academic All-Big Ten, Varsity Letter Winner, and Gymnastics Record Holder. I have a competitive spirit – can you tell?

I am published in the PIABA Bar Journal, Bloomberg Law, and an article I co-wrote with my mentor, colleague, and former professor, Ed Pekarerk, for the New York State Bar Association was named Best of NYSBA for 2011. I have experience in the practice of securities arbitration, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy. I have also drafted several comment letters to the SEC as well as provided assistance in working on a brief for the Supreme Court (we on our opposition, btw).

I love everything pink and glittery. I live with my wife (the amazing Jordana Jaffe) and our fur babies, Gray (Russian Blue cat) and Ruby (our little Morkie pup) back in the burbs in PA where I grew up!

“ As a small business owner, it′s uber-important to be protected. The problem? It′s mission impossible to find a lawyer who is 1) affordable and 2) that doesn′t scare the bejesus out of you. Finding Genavieve was like a breath of fresh air. Instead of pointing out wrongdoings or making me feel inferior, she gently looked at my business and made suggestions on how to lovingly “cover my ass.” She poured over my contracts (which needed A LOT of work), scoped my website, and perused other areas that needed improvement. Having Genavieve in your corner is like being an A-List celeb with a bodyguard watching your every move.”

“ When Gena got her hands on my contracts, I couldn′t believe I made it through three years in business without her on my side. Not only did she whip my contracts into shape in record time (she works so fast!), but she also generously explained to me the work she was doing and why it was necessary, in terms I understood clearly. If you want to make sure you succeed in business, having Gena′s legal expertise is a must.”

“ Thank goodness for Gena! Gena is supremely detail-oriented, brilliant, and above all else, one of the nicest people you′ll ever meet. Getting the “law stuff” done for your business rarely feels fun (at least for me), but working with Gena made the whole process quick, easy, and dare I say, maybe even a little fun. It feels so good knowing that you have all of your client agreements and all of that other legal musts in order, and it feels even better knowing that you are being guided and supported by someone who is so accessible, down to earth and kind. Essentially, call her ASAP.”
